Perhaps a change of pace is in order. The Massive Wanker Damien has been breathing down his neck for some fresh material, and working from home has suddenly become Tim's idea of a nightmare. He's been told no more mutants, no more aliens, and no more superheroes. Damien's expecting something a little less cliché on his desk by tomorrow, but unfortunately, the things Damien finds cliché are exactly the sorts of things Tim rather enjoys.

So, with his black sketchbook and a drafting pencil, Tim's sat right in the middle of the bar, drawing anyone that happens to look interesting.

    Enter Alyx Vance.

She's looking very subdued at the moment, and has a moderately-sized stack of papers under one arm.

"Bar? I need a map of North American rail lines in my world, circa 2001. The biggest one you can get me."

She takes the folded paper that materializes and heads for the biggest table in the Bar. Vance Prime has work to do.

Some time ago, after the Scab got destroyed but before Barney Calhoun got rescued, a couple of Resistance leaders made a decision.

And when something like that happens, people hear about it, and act on it...

The Combine, though they probably don't count as people, can act on things too.]

Jane had gone home and worried that her mother or Cassandra would wonder about the bandage on her neck but Dr. Cullen did a good job and no one noticed.

Though she found her dreams were slightly richer as if there was something strange and full of passion inside her. She would wake up and try to write them but they slipped from her hand like the morning fog.

When a door to Milliways appeared, she at first hesitated but then went through to order a pot of tea and keep trying to write what she could not quite grasp.

Ellen's sitting at the bar, reading over what looks like a letter.

By the time anyone gets close enough to read its contents, it'll be folded up and placed in her back pocket in the blink of an eye.

It's only a minor comfort, knowing Joanna's out there, safe somewhere. The rest isn't something a strong glass of liquor can't fix.

"Whiskey, please, Bar," she says, just loud enough to be audible, voice low and rasping. "Neat."

    Long Overdue EPs!
Sam Linnfer is out on the lakeside, hands shoved in his pockets. He's not really doing much - just wandering about.

Company, and distraction from the claustrophobia, would be entirely welcome.

    ~

Molly Hayes is sitting inside, working on a rather complicated Pokemon jigsaw puzzle (all 252 characters - at least, when she entered the bar there were only 252), her tongue sticking out slightly in concentration. She probably wouldn't mind the help.

    ~

Minerva McGonagall - the eighteen-year-old one - is sitting at the bar with a butterbeer. She looks like she's playing chess with the Invisible Man - not exactly impossible, given where she is - but she's actually playing against Bar.

    ...It's anyone's guess who's winning.

    ~

And Raoul of Goldenlake is slumped in a squishy chair in front of the fire in his very best dress clothes, looking very pleased to be there, thank you. There's yet another interminable Midwinter party going on outside his door, and he plans on staying hidden in here for as long as possible in the faint hope that maybe time will carry on outside without him.

Teja is in the forge, working furiously.

The midwinter holidays are not far off; also, it has been his while since he's seen Charlie, and that brings up feelings in the Goth that are best dealt with by intense sparring, or vigorous hammering.

The cats, not minding the noise, lounge by the fire.

Despite the cold outside, the door is open, and all comers, be they friend or stranger, customer or merely curious, are welcome.-

Robo can almost see his door. Which is good on a number of levels. In the meantime there's still a robot with blue eyes working through a stack of old magazines and breaking from time to people watch and check out the door, wall, whatever.

Other distractions are always an option though.

Maybe Ben hasn't been around the bar quite as much these last few days, but maybe that's 'cause a few days ago he went to the bar and found a room key waitin' for him. And maybe, silly as it felt, he asked the bar who'd done it and she hadn't told him, right, but the point of it all was that there was a room for him and a place to sleep that wasn't the couches by the fire.

's a small room, sure, bed and chest of drawers and bathroom but it's private, quiet, gives him a place to be alone. So Ben's been up there 'cept maybe, at some point, he went and realized that he didn't exactly want to be alone.

So he's down in the bar, now, sittin' in a chair with his holey old boots propped up on a table. Got a stick of wood and a penknife and he's whittlin' a bit, ain't too good but he needs something to do with his hands or he's gonna go crazy.

Could be he's in a better mood then usual, too. Could be.

Medic is getting very, very tired of being set on fire. The next time he sees that one RED Pyro on his tail, he's going to leave off with the Blutsauger and the Ubersaw and chase the son of a motherless dog down so he can strangle him with his bare hands. Gloved hands. Whatever.

If you smell smoke passing through the Bar today, Medic is why. He came straight from work and is doing some thoroughly irritated drinking before he hits the showers.

    Jordan at a booth.

Huge breakfast*, with toast, jam, cheese, milk and coffee added.

How Jordan manages to pack in so much food within her tiny frame is a mystery for the ages, but she might try to explain if asked; sharing is more unlikely.

Anyway, she would not mind company, most likely.

When Jools walks into Milliways, an observer would almost think that this was exactly where he was intending to go. In fact, he was looking for a chip shop, but inter-dimensional pub? Close enough. He seems to almost be in a haze as he walks up to the bar and orders cod and chips twice.

At least he's not by the fire place again.

Back from an extended stay at Demeter's house in Provence with Boo and Bill, Kate's sitting at the bar tonight, a glass of iced coffee near one elbow and a wooden box in front of her.

The box is beautiful in its simplicity, as is the watch housed inside.

Smiling to herself (and more than a little awed at Weyland's skill, because it's everything she tried to ask for but wasn't sure she articulated), she requests a piece of paper and a pen.

    Weyland --

It's perfect. I can't thank you enough for what you've done.

    -- Kate Warner

She leaves the note with Bar, along with a generous payment for Weyland's commission, and sips at her coffee, people-watching and casting occasional glances toward the Front Door and the Observation Window.

"That's not even a real drink," Buffy is informing the bar, over the top of her (half-full) glass. "I mean, come on. It's a hazing ritual, right? Or -- or some kind of nasty potion ingredient. Or made of some kind of nasty potion ingredient, like that one Willow did with the dried mongoose nipples."

    The bar is smugly silent.

Buffy looks at the bottle of Moxie -- still nearly full -- and shudders. "Can I just have some water?"

Two squirrel-human hybrids are occupying a big corner booth today.

...well, more precisely, one of them (the increasingly beach-ball-shaped baby in an incongruous banana outfit) has rolled just out of reach, under the table, while his father (just a couple weeks from hibernation, and almost at his final weight) can't fit under the table to get him.

"C'mon, Ev," Squirrel says, stretching as far as he can and still not reaching him. "It was funny at first but now it's time to roll back out here."

Ev just giggles. Poor Stanley the squirrel tries his best to roll him back out from under the table, but he's just not strong enough.

A little help would not be unwelcome. Particularly before Coreen can find out about this.

    Visit #1
Maybe Osaka was just being dense as usual, but she sure didn't remember a lake last time she was here.

The young girl, fresh out of school and still wearing her uniform, had already gotten pretty suspicious when she'd walked up to Chiyo's mansion and found the front gate was missing. Osaka couldn't picture anybody stealing that -- it'd be really heavy -- but then again, people in Tokyo were...weird. And then there were those mountains way up the drive...and the forest...huh. Maybe real rich people can just get those put in or somethin'...

Osaka knocked on the door like always, trying to put that out of her mind; when nobody answered, she hesitated and then let herself in, laying eyes on...uhh. Huh. This was different. "Hey, Chiyo! How come you didn't tell me you were remodelin'? The bar looks real neat...and, uh...I like the mountains, too. In your yard. They're...big and stuff. Got a nice purplish color..." Her eyes shifted over to a nearby observation window and -- woah. She couldn't help but stare open-mouthed at the glorious edge of the universe. "Hey, that's real cool...it must be, uhh...holograms or somethin'. I bet Chiyo built 'em herself..."

Somebody should probably distract her; she could stare like that for hours...

Ellen really wasn't expecting Milliways behind the sliding steel door of the old Metro tunnel, but oh, well. She can make do as well here as anywhere else. "You hungry, Dogmeat?" She asks; the blue heeler following her wags his tail obligingly. "Okay then. Bar, I don't have much in the way of caps on me. Will you accept five-millimeter ammo in barter?"

What? She hasn't seen Harith lately, and she has no use for minigun ammo.

"Thank you," she says as the box of belt-fed ammo disappears. "Can I get some of that vegetable stuff from last time for me and a pair of bowls for my dog? One empty, one full of water?"

She's still got some of that mirelurk meat, and Dogmeat seems to like it. He'll eat that while she settles down at a table and eats in her armor.

Well, it's been a decidedly busy time in Bristol. Especially at the pink flat of George, Mitchell and Annie's. A little matter of learning of Annie's murderer, and then the whole sodding mess with Herrick and the other vampires. And another full moon on top of it.

He was rather relieved to find it behind him, and rather grateful for the door leading into the bar today. He could use a quiet cuppa in the library to rest and recharge. Pity he missed the door vanishing behind him as he stepped through the doorway. No matter, he'd learn otherwise soon enough.

In the meantime, George had a calm expression on his face today as he went to find a table to sit at.

Ok, so her closet door in the new apartment leads to the bar. Good to know. Armed with that useless fact, along with a bookbag full of textbooks, notebooks, and music scores Kate glanced around for familiar faces and a place to sit down. Mid semester and the school does love to pile on the work for its students. Well, not like it was unexpected, and at least she can catch up on her notes and assignments in here.

She went to find a warm place closer to the fireplace to sit, and flagged a waitrat for a tea and a sandwich. Idly wondering what's been going on of late.

The door opens, and a blonde girl walks in, looking confused. This is not even slightly what she expected, from the exterior - but it's a pleasant surprise. She's been eating greasy diner food for weeks - maybe this place will serve something better. It can't be too expensive, surely, not stuck out in the middle of nowhere with a peeling exterior and mis-spelled sign.

She hasn't, rather obviously, noticed the viewing window yet.

After a damn near-fatal run-in with the Whomping Willow, Ben's horse is safe and settled in the stables, and Ben strides in the back entrance.

He wants a drink or three.

    And a new hat.

Once he's settled at the bar, though, he gets a little distracted, admiring his new favorite fork.
